This could be considered a pathetically simple solution to the problem of (some) Gleaner dealers not wanting to demo a new machine, but our local Gleaner dealer arranged to have me visit a farm which already owned the very machine I was inquiring to purchase. I was able to have a candid conversation with the owner (outside of earshot of the Gleaner salesman), learn his likes and dislikes PLUS had the luxury of running a machine which had already been setup and working. So what if it isn't on my farm, after running his machine for a few hours, I felt I had a true working knowledge of what that combine was all about. I know, perhaps pointless to some but I appreciated the effort my dealer put forth in arranging the demo, taking me on the 2 hour trip to visit the farm and providing the next-best alternative to an on-farm demo.
