I have a TJ500 that has 42gpm pump and would like to pair it with a 60' 12" space p2070/ph800 air drill with a 3430 dual fan air cart. The dealer says the hydraulic capacity should be enough but there is a few threads on this site that says otherwise and the openers would raise and lower too slowly. I have also heard that there may be to much heat buildup in the oil and may risk destroying the pump. I would like to hear from anyone running a similar setup and what their experiences were - thanks

I had a Steiger with 55 gpm pump and 800 70' width 10" spacing with 3430 cart. Barely enough flow there for that setup, openers were cycling too slow for my liking. I was single-shooting but at times running fairly high fan speed. It did work though.;)

12" would help the situation but how much??? Enough to off-set difference between 42 and 55gpm?

from the info i can get the fan is about 15.5gpm at 4000 rpm the variable rate drive is 1.25 gpm so 16.75gpm total for the cart. The dealer spec for a 60' 12" drill is 26.3 gpm for a 6 second lower time 17.6 gpm for 9 seconds and 13.2 gpm for 12 seconds so in theory 30-43gpm should work?

Single or double shoot?
How many pounds of each?

I think the 1.25 GPM is per tank, so 3.75. Fan should use about 20 on the high end, so figure 25 for the cart, now run the cycle times. You may be short IMO, but I don't have the indepenant link drill and have a 58 gallon pump;)

its a double shoot and going to be putting down up to 380 lbs (seed + fert). I would feel a lot more confident with 55-58gpm. There is a 6-10gpm less requirement when comparing a 70' 10" space vs a 60' 12" space (84 vs 60 openers). Anyone had any oil overheating issues?
