Hi guys, I have been having some troubles with the ATU that we have in our 8400. It tracks pretty good when it is on line but it has trouble with aquiring the line. It likes guide me about 30-36 inches parallel to the line and then after a while it will all of a sudden steer directly over to the line and work fine... I have messed with the settings quite a bit, but I still can't get it to work. Any help is appreciated!

Thanks,
Evan T.

I have the same issue but not constantly. Tracks 60-70cm off line then when it changes from accruing line it jumps to met up with the line. I have played around with the settings but still trying to figure it out.

What ATU do you have. Is it the 100 (black logo) or the 200 (silver logo on side unit) and what receiver, iTC or SF3000.

Make sure your asymmetric ratio is at 100% and on row crop tractor. Have you played with the fore / aft and height settings. Generally when you see this in our experience mainly 4wd's it is feed back from the steering cylinders (worn or bypassing internally seals) or worn bushes.

I suspect you raise the sensitivities to try and get on line and it gets very aggressive from the ATU and just violently crosses the line. We have seen some better results by raising the steer wheel play to around 20-30 and than playing with the settings again.

I've never had an atu on anything that worked well. I noticed that for me it acquired the line in one direction better that the other for some reason. It works best if you can drive the line a bit before hitting the resume button. Try turning up your acquire line sensitivity setting. You will know if you go too far.
