Have an R62 and would like to put an auger extension on it. I'm interested in the stewart steel b/c it doesn't extend the length of the auger behind the machine.... which should lower the chance of it getting backed into something.

Has anybody used one on an R series, and what's you're thoughts on them?

Or should I just go w/ the 3' tube extension?

Re: Auger extension, stewart steel extender or oth

I run 3 R72's with the 3' extension, they work fine. The only problem we have had is when we are unloading on the go we have bent the auger when we hit large holes or washouts. This has only happened once, and since then have added more support to the lower base of the auger...so far so good.

The extender basically just shoots the grain out the end of the augur. When you add in the length of that funny spout I don't see how it gains much on a Gleaner. We went with the 3' extender. We bought an extra set of the auger guards that protect the underside of the tube from wagons, etc and added that to the bottom. It really gives some extra stability. We have no problems.

We used alot of 30" extentions from Loewen until we couldn't get anymore. He's link to what we went to this summer. Very happy with quality and fit from these guys. We purchased some for old 12" systems, new 12" systems, and soon the 36" they have for 14" systems for we used our last Loewen we had on hand
