You are probably right but does the combine have field tracker on it because I have seen it cause a problem like this.
auto header problem
I have a case 1660. All the auto header controls seem to work except the lowering setting. When I set desired height, header just lowers all the way down hard. I checked two potentionemeters and got good readings. I'm thinking it might be auto header control module. Any suggestions?

It does not.
Then what I would recommend you do is see if you can find someone that will let you switch out the modules and see if it still has the problem because I'm pretty sure you don't want to buy that module and it not be the problem seeing how they are rather expensive.
