Application hours average since 2007 only 185 application hours , nearly double that in engine although the gap is narrowing since I figured out how to fill engine off. Jd 4920

Care to share your secret?
I think there are actually two secrets, first I learnt was to turn on the solution pump in the cab and turn off the engine, that seems to leave the big tap open at the bottom of the tank.

What I do now is I have a air fitting on the air tank at the back and I turn off the engine and walk around the back of the machine and dump the air, in a few seconds I can turn the tap by hand without the air ram resisting. Proceed to fill.

How do you handle your gps and power surges when you start your sprayer when you are turning it off and on for the fill?
You might have to explain what you mean, isn't it just another shutdown? I would like to fit a turbo timer to allow me to idle the engine a bit more. I now only use the second method where I just dump the air. That can be done while the engine is running as the replenishment is not fast enough to close the valve and then once I have it filling I go back upstairs to turn off the engine.

I know exactly what your talking about, I can't count the amount of times cycling power has caused me monitor issues. If i was going to shut off the engine every fill I would run some sort of a switch to keep the monitor on at all times. I have thought about shutting down to save engine hours but figured that speeding up my fill times would just be a better idea.

I'm averaging 100-120 Engine hours per year. Not sure what the spray hours are because my 3330 with Pro 600 doesn't calculate it. Spraying between 6000 and 8000 acres....depending on if I desiccate a few acres or do a fungicide pass on a couple of fields. All our own crops, no custom work.

When you start your engine with the gps on I have been told that you will get power surges that are hard on the gps equiptment. If you shut the gps down ours takes 10 minutes or more to get a accurate signal. I was curious how you handle your gps when you are turning your engine on and off.
