Has anybody ran an R-62 with bin extensions? What brands are out there, and how many extra bushels can you pile on? My machine has the heavy final drives, so I think it should prove to be sturdy enough. Just wondering what other people out their have xperienced. Oh, do you notice any appreciable increase in the amount of work done in a day?

We have ran my shopbuilt extentions on our 62,65 and now our 76. it holds about 425-430bu and we love it. All of the machines had 8 row cornheads, with the 65 and 76 having the Drago which I think is 800 pounds heavier than a hugger. I noticed a difference right away in work done with being able to open up fields and not have to stop with just a little bit further to get to end, also you can keep going if the graincart isn't back to you yet and he doesn't have to go in roadgear to get to you in time. we have never had problems with any of the machines and wouldn't give up the extra capacity after you have ran with extentions. I think Maurer makes a really good one which is how I modeled ours after.

We have the large Maurer on our 65 and it will hold just over 400 bu of 20% corn. I would think that if you are looking at extensions that you should also look at hydraulic bubble up augers. Maurer has a nice one that folds easily. There are a few others that I found when I was searching that were a little bit cheaper but I went with the Maurer since we have a good local dealer. Without the hydraulic bubble up we weren't able to utilize the entire extension as the pile would form too far forward. With the bubble up augar we could position it so that he heap was centered. The bubble up also took alot of load off of the clean grain elevator. Before we had the bubble up we would rattle the slip clutch on the elevator drive when the pile got large. I would advise anyone to buy the bubble up with the extension. btw I have this on an R65 that is pushing a 12 row folding corn head and a 35' MacDon. Put plenty of tire under it!

I was thinking of adding extensions instead of getting a grain cart for a year or two. They are hard to find around here, unless you want a new, or nearly new one. I think added bushels per dump would save me time, and carry more to the truck, instead of going less than full because I can't go down and back. A grain cart is in the works, when the pocket book says so.
