Looking at used drills and found a 3320 on 12" spacing with MRB. If I use a 1 or 2" opener the mid row fertilizer is similar in distance to the 10" spacing and 3/4" openers. Just looking for people who use 12" spaced bourgaults and how they like them. I know that 12" spacing works fine, but most air drills place the fertilizer closer to the seed than bourgault does.
How much N is required with the seed to allow time for the roots to hit the mid row band? Was thinking 15N, but perhaps that is not enough.

MRB's with closer wheels, do they work in clay soil? Never seen a set used around here. Clay will stick 1-2" thick on some of the Mrb's that use closer tynes here.

We do not have a paralink but neighbors with the wider openers were having problems with depth control. The wider opener causes more mud build up in the heavy wet clay and the depth varied with the thickness of the mud on the tire.
