WOW that's amazing! Thinking some collectors will be in on this one. 8820 will go for $75,000. The 9600 around the same??

Items like this roll out once in a great while and it makes you wonder what's the story? How does this happen? Usually its a tractor with exceptionally low hours, not a combine with 0 separator and 15.5 engine hours. That's less than a half an hour of run time per year so it literally never moved.

I guess I fall in the other camp---these will go for much less than expected. Why? Well a couple of reasons. 1) there just really aren't "combine collectors" like there are for tractors. IDK of any museums collecting combines....except really old ones. Combines are like 4x4 tractors...too big for most collections. 2) Because of 1) most likely the bidders will want to use these (or sell them to somebody that will). Sure, a "new" combine is worth more, but a combine that has been sitting for 30 years is gonna need a bunch of repairs...all new belts at the very least. 3) Any farmer willing to run a machine this old and 'small' won't want to spend excessive $$ just cause it has 0 hours. I know I sure wouldn't--having owned and run both 20 and 00 machines. BTW--the '90 MY is not a desirable feature...rather the opposite. 89-90 xx00 machines had the 2 speed engine and the wrong feeder pitch faceplate. The '83--Not a T II. And it may not even have the updated cylinder drive assembly (was that 83 or 84?)---which would immediately no-sale it for me.

My guess is these will limit the sale value to 2x what a typical "low hour" machine might bring. Or another way--the value will be limited to the cost of purchasing and having the local dealer go completely thru a solid 3K hour machine. In my area, a solid 9600 might be $30K, and another $30k will get you a LOT of new parts installed. Becaue of the "sitting", its gonna cost at least 5-10K in parts/service to get these field ready. So MY max bid would be in the $55K region. 8820 would be less...more like 40K.

I hope for the sellers sake I'm totally wrong! Pretty cool though!

I would love to have that 8820. Only problem is, I could never bring myself to use it.

Friend of mine found a 8820 in storage with 500 hrs on it. It is unbelievable how much something deteriorates parked.

Belts failed in a few hours.
Oil leaks from seals
Then bearing failures
He has stopped using it as it is a money and time pit.

Is it still in the shed? Would he be willing to sell it?

Deere should really buy it back
I think deere has other worries at the moment, their stock lost so much value lately that theirs rumors going of them being bought up by another company.

why buy a combine and park it, never understood the reasoning for that if we don't use it for more than 2 years its gone.

My friend doesn't have a shed so it has been outside since he has had it.
