I noticed several posts regarding Buhler Versatile so I thought I'd post a local update. Business as usual at Buhler Versatile. The Russian company that bought (80%) the company is Rostselmash Ltd. They are one of the worlds largest combine manufacturers. Apparently they make 17% of the worlds combine production, which I think has to be a bunch. They did not have a tractor and I believe Buhler has been exporting a lot of tractors to Russia. I'm in Winnipeg and they have said locally that they expect to double production the first year and are in fact already hiring. I expect that with all the globalization going on this was a good move for both Rostselmash and Versatile. I always find it a little amuseing when some (like on Ebay) think that Versatile no longer exists. I guess because of the compny being bought and sold so many times and various name associations. Actually Versatile has become one of the few who can boast of some longevity. Versatile tractors have been built in the same plant continuously for 42 years by a continuity of engineers and workers and though parts may come from many sources the tractors are completely built right here in North America. Only ownership has changed from time to time and if you examine the Versatile tractor you will find that as it was updated over the years it remained distinctively Versatile. None of the various owners came in and destroyed the "Verstile" tractor and made it recognizably their own other than paint. Just thought this would be of interest.
