In the market for a swather upgrade. Looking at Macdon 972 heads on Premier or Prairie star tractors. See quite a few Massey and Case swathers that have lower hours and way cheaper than a Premier/Macdon. Should a guy look at these or just skip them and pay the premium for a Macdon?

How do the Macdon reels compare to a Ull reel that is on a Honey Bee or Massey? Looking in the 2003-2009yr range. Looking at 25fts.

I was looking to do the same thing as you. I was wanting to trade up from an older Hesston to a Macdon, but the premium they seem to hold justified or not was just too much over some other newer swathers. decided to go with a Massey, went up in yrs and less $$ than older Macdons and it looks to have better clearance under it for canola. Have not ran it yet so time will tell if it was a good decision or not.
