Does anyone know where they can rebuild these transmissions other than the dealer or maybe is there a mechanic who you know has done a few of these? Tried Big Tractor Parts but they mostly do the older 12 speeds.

CNH do reman ones, if none are available you will get a new one.
Here the reman is two year warranty

My tractor is low hours and would rather have my transmission fixed then replaced with one with unknown hours.

Did you ever find a place? I've got a 535 that is high hours. We don't have transmission issues yet, but I feel like sometime in the next couple years we will likely have to deal with it. You mentioned that you were looking for someplace that is not the dealer. What did they quote you for a price?

No, Big Tractor Parts does the older 12 speeds but were not sure if they wanted to do a 16 speed at this time. All the parts for the 16 speed would have to be bought at Case.

gear center couldn't sell me a truck clutch to fit a 946. Dealt there for years.

All States Ag Parts in South Dakota has a Dad and son that rebuilds them . They used to work for a Case IH dealer so they seem to know their stuff. You can buy a 2 year warranty. Make sure you have your Case IH repair man calibrate it after install.
