Put swather away last fall everything worked. Now Header will only lift if I increase float pressure higher then normal. But then float pressure to high to let header down. Accumulator? There is power to the header lift/lower and float up and down solenoids. Seems the lift cylinders not working at all. All other hydraulic functions working normally.

Needs nitrogen in the accumulator down behind cab. It is actually quite easy to remove and not that bad to get recharged at the dealer.
Ours slowly got worse over a few years.
What header do you have on it?
We have a 36' honey bee with split UII pickup reel, double knife and reel drives. So it is much heavier than the Heston header.
I believe accumulator pressure should be 12-1400psi with the header we have on, 800-1000 with Heston?? But check with the dealer and make sure they know what header you have before taking it in to them.

It sounds to me like your "lift" circuit is not working, and you are lifting the head with the "float" circuit. To float the head on the ground, you set the float pressure to just less than the weight of the head, allowing the head to go down and lightly sit on the ground. To raise the head, a separate valve (or cylinder) supplies full pressure to the lift cylinders. Some swathers have 2 sets of cylinders, one set is the "lift" and one set is the "float". Even if you only have one set, many swathers have a separate "Raise/Lower" valve and a "float pressure circuit". I think you have an electrical or valve problem preventing the raise valve from activating. You are raising the head by raising the float pressure above the carrying weight of the head, but that is not the actual "raise" valve or function.

It was the accumulator. Was down to about 50lbs. Charged to 900lbs as indicated on accumulator tube. works good now. Tks!!
