I am looking for my first disk, I found a nice clean 26’ 3900. The blades are 20.5” the old owner said he’s never had a bearing go out. I got home and found a lot of negative stuff on forums while a few guys have had good luck with them. most guys say case ih upgraded the disks problem areas free of charge. If this one has been upgraded is there any reason to be scared away from it?
A disk is a disk. Over time you will put bearings on the unit. It doesn’t matter what you have. It’s like a deep tiller. You will lose a shank now and then.
I have been using a 3900 that I bought used. I have replaced one hyd. hose and put inner tubes in slow leak tires in 10000 acres. It does a great job. I have had several farmers comment on the smooth fields, no ridging when set corectly......Front blades will be replaced next summer and will run it till I retire....
Thanks for the replies I bought the disk it is in pretty good shape and has a spring tooth harrow. May replace with a remlinger harrow at some point but glad to hear the good reviews
I think most of the 3900 disks were updated to the 3950 bearings which make them a very good disk
