In about 3 weeks we'll be using our new to us R62 for the first time in Wheat. I was just watching the videos for the features on the new R66 and 76 and they were demonstrating the chaff spreader fins behind the shoe. That got me thinking. Are those fins meant to be in the up locked position or should it be down? I think we left them up during fall harvest. Which way does the better job spreading chaff? Thanks.

We run ours down, also made them longer and deeper can't remember the length but at least 16" or more. we also made new hanger brackets to lower them some more. The theory was to catch as much chaff and air as possible, have no issues spreading a solid 30' on a calm day closer to the 33-36 range. We were not able to lenghten the one near the spreader as much for self explanatory reasons.
