While installing the PFP enclosed discharge beater we noticed that
the front end of both the chaffer and sieve were plugged with straw
and chaff, I'd never seen this happen before.

I looked at used S series machines on a dealers lot and some of them
had the same condition.

Anyone else notice this and if so how do I avoid it.

Thanks,

We have the same problem on 9760 I have crawled in there three times a harvest to poke out the awns from bearded wheat. Opening an closing dosent get the awns out very good.
Could lose 10-15% of the sieve when it's plugged.

Certain types of grain seem to plug things up. Seen a combine that cut "Kamut?" Crescent shaped durum looking stuff. That stuff had everything plugged up with awns. Just had to clean it out every now and then. I would like to know how to prevent it or make it simpler to clean out myself. Other than a match, which gets tempting when it is 90deg outside.
