Anyone do any tests to see how many gal a person has to charge a 100ft boom on a 4730? I run 20 gal not sure if this is too much or too little.

25-30 gallons. 25 isn't quite enough and 30 is plenty. How I determined this is by charging the booms over a gravel road or similar surface and watch for the chemical on the ground to become equally white right out to the tip.

25 gal I checked this with prowl. It was easy just watch for the end nozzle to start spraying yellow:54:

!8 - 20 gai. on 110 ft. 4730. Start boom, when center turns white shut it off. inner wings turn white shut them off etc. Just the way I do it Dave

Mostly 25 gal, but sometimes up to 40 gal. Higher end probably due to not enough mixing although some chemicals may need more? Don't know for sure.

Doesn't the 4730 have auto prime like the 4940. Good feature especially over a 36mt boom.

I put blue dye in mine when doing a cleaning rinse and zeroed the gallon meter. Then ran the center 2 sections until blue came out of each tip, shut them off, opened the next 2 and so on. I recorded the gallons for each 2 sections and that's how I charge the system each time now. Has worked excellent.

Now that's a good idea. Going to have to try that!!
