So my canola is at multiple stages this year, with frost and poor germination being the main causes. I've been fortunate enough to get a few small showers to get most of my remaining seeds germinated. My canola is anywhere from pre bolt to just emerging.

So my question is....how hard is ares on canola in the cotyledon stage? Anyone have experience with this?

What's the lesser of 2 evils? Spray cotyledons or spray a few plants that are in flower?

Thanks
Rod

According to the label the timing for spraying Ares is from 2 leaves to pre bolt ( 7 leaves). I guess it would depend on which is going to be the bigger hit. If you only have a few cotyledon plants that will be hit, and the majority of the field is quite advanced and at the right stage, or a few bolting plants that will be hit with the majority of the plants still at the right stage, which ever leaves you with the better chance of an adequate stand of canola would be my plan.

I just did it and seem to have gotten away with it. Staging on my clearfield is all over the map even in the re-seeded stuff. The LL is far and away more even. Just because it worked does not necessarily mean that it is a good idea (which goes for a lot of things).
