My s680 has veri stream rotor with dense pack tines and HD seperator grates with interrupter bars. I am using a JD small wire front medium wire middle and large wire rear concaves seemed to thrash good never use cover plates in hard thrashing wheat the only time I use cover plates is for white clover radish and golden linseed. For me this machine works brilliantly in hard to thrash small seeds very little damage to grain unlike my old lexion it was good at turning grain into flour.

Hey Kiwifarmboy, thank you for your response. It helps me a lot!

Another question.. What would you have changed of the concave design if you have had the opportunity?

I think that the serial concaves of JD need more options to adjust them. I mean...like many farmers are doing (Local Expertise With a Continental FocusSunnybrook Welding). I find them very simply. What do you think?

PD.. Sorry for my English and thanks!

I would be keen to try some after market concaves but the cost of shipping things to New Zealand from the U.S. is not cheep. The only thing I would like to see is a little less rotor losses. Irrigated wheat plus lots of straw can be a problem especially when the wheat is yielding over 12 to 13 tonnes/ hectare.

“The two main reasons for grain loss in rotors are crop residue and an overloaded rotor,” Estes says. “If you want to stop rotor overload, you must start removing grain in the concave section before it gets to the separator section.”

Do you think that these after-market concaves are better than the original ones? If yes, why?

Thank you! :) I appreciate a lot your help!

Is your S680 a 2015 model? The HD separator grates with the interuptor bars are only on 2015 models here and none of them have used yet.

The machine is a 2014 was new in December just finished harvest. The JD test guys fitted the HD grates and dense pack tines to a 680 three years ago here now all new machine are ordered like that have seen some mini round bar concaves made for wheat and barley and some other test concavs which have all been cut up by the dealer this is my first dark green machine so still getting used to it.
