I have an International 963 corn head with a straight shaft with a coupler that connects to the combine for the drive.

I have seen 6 row corn heads with a single drive shaft like mine, drive shafts on both sides and drive shafts that are very short that have a short pto shaft like on the platforms.

Why the difference? Which is better? Was the short pto shaft a factory item or aftermarket?

I've traded combines and now I have lateral tilting capability. I am afraid that I might hit the button wrong and accidently tilt my corn head and that straight shaft won't last long.

Thanks for your info.
