I am new at grain production but after sending a few loads to the buyer today I have some questions. My moisture tested at 14.2 and test weight was 59.2. Should I not be getting 55 lbs per bushel.
All it means is your corn is weighing 59.2 lbs in a volumetric bushel. You will still be gettin paid for every 56lbs you haul. Having high test weight corn is a good thing. High quality.
Corn bushel standard is 56lbs. I have seen it range from upper 40's to 61. They pay based on 56lbs so that extra 3.2lbs counts towards another bushel. This year ours ran pretty much at 56.
You're corn is doing great. Anything over 56lbs test weight is number 1 and under 15 moisture will store very well. You shouldn't have any dockage at an elevator.
