I converted my 1996 1293 to a sun flower head with the sun star conversion plates and i was wondering if any one has any experience with these. I experienced excessive shelling and called the company and they couldn't tell me much. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I was trying to cut oils and from what they told me the stalks wouldnt reach the knives at the rear of the plate. But i found that over half of the stalks would reach that knife and even when i narrowed the gap they would get shaken bad and still make it to the knife. And about every 4th or 5th stalk would get pulled down and smash on the deck plates. This happened with the gap wide or narrow it didnt seem to matter.

We ran a set on a new 1293 last year. I harvested about 1200acres before the header was completly destroyed, the gear boxes all started leaking, and it wore the poly hoods out to. I had to rent neighbors to combine corn. Its alot cheeper to buy a all crop header they do a better job anyways.
