Hi All

I currently have a CX 840 that is a bit tired, and would like to go to a bigger newer combine. CX's are a lot cheaper than CR's so would rather get a cx. What kind of capacity increase would i get from either machine?

In the day or when it's dry you won't get any more capacity out of the bigger cx's. Losses are the limiting factor especially on the 880. The first year we ran 860's and a 840 ran beside us for a day and there was no difference in speed day or night. Then we got the 880's the losses were very bad especially during the day. They were bigger at night but during the day no they weren't. The hp of the 840 seems to be best matched to the threshing and seperating of the combine. The 860 will give you a tiny bit more capacity and has the bigger hopper but I don't know if it's worth the extra money. Your probably best to go with a cr or switch brands if you are looking for a bigger combine.
