Hey all,

Was considering desiccating some rye this year as we have found it almost impossible to straight combine previous years and have always swathed it. We have some that is a mixture of hard, ready seed and a few brown, but very soft ones, to a field that is mainly just soft, green/light brown seed.

How early can it be done? Was thinking of putting the more mature field down this weekend but wanted thoughts on desiccating.

The principle with wheat is to apply the glyphosate when you can press your thumb nail into the seed and it doesn't mush or bounce back easily. Hard dough stage. I'm not sure if it would be much different.
