My cat 765 at 300 hp will pull a 42 jd 1890 with a full 350 bushel cart all day long and if ground is firm it plays with it. Discs pull easy.

How would know that the gpm is on our tractor. Our 7290r has a 43gpm or 59gpm option. Note we would not be going 80ft lol. Just 40 on either likelyI think the more important question should be about hydraulic capacity . Correct me if I am wrong but disc drills need a ton of hydraulic capacity for down force. Add two fans to a cart and all of a sudden horse power doesn’t matter much . A standard 45 gpm pump will struggle to operate a disc drill. 78-115 is what you need.
I think you need a double hydraulic pump for a disc drill where a single pump would do for a hoe drill .
Especially if you go to 70 or 80 feet in length on a disc drill.
Otherwise disc drills pull easy especially the 1895. The disc angle is 4 % I believe where as the bourgault disc angle is greater and disturbs more soil so takes more horse power to pull.
Any one know the weight difference between a hoe drill and disc drill in comparable size !
