Has anyone taken 12% canola and dried it down in aeration? Or will it need to be dried? Getting a little anxious and this weather is not cooperating and I fear we're in for a tough haul.
Any particular reason you feel the need to pick this crop up at that moisture level at this time of year?Has anyone taken 12% canola and dried it down in aeration? Or will it need to be dried? Getting a little anxious and this weather is not cooperating and I fear we're in for a tough haul.
Because next weeks forecast is crap and it's time to get going. And it should be drying as we go. Might try wheat instead.Any particular reason you feel the need to pick this crop up at that moisture level at this time of year?![]()
Canola @ 18%?? Yikes!I have put it through a full floor aeration(10,000 bushel bin half full and levelled) with a turnover after three days at 18 many times. We consider 12 a nuisance here , not really tough. I'm talking about a fan that will blow a loose cap off over the hatch. Are you guys serious? 12%?
I 'm with wetfarmer. Had a neighbor use my 19ft full floor bins few years back 1/2 fill 20+% ( couldn't test ) canola at end of Oct. When he hauled it out at Christmas it was below 14%. Last yr I put 13-14% into a 10,000 bin at end of Oct. Froze it out over winter. Then shut fan off and cycled once a week . Turned on in spring and dried it down. Trick is you need full floor air and lots of fan capacity. Consider yourself lucky if you can combine it at 12%. When you have good aeration I'd rather combine it at 12% than loose money on light 6% canola that we don't get a premium for.I have put it through a full floor aeration(10,000 bushel bin half full and levelled) with a turnover after three days at 18 many times.
