Brian Cates has a nice summary of the last few days events along with some speculation. But the summary is good for those not following. Remember that $1B of aid to Ukraine where about all that is known is connected people took the money and spent much of it back in the US on real estate. That was posted about a year or two ago. The last few days appears to see some action on that front as Brian covers briefly.

I also see that if I type "bank of England" into Google search, the link comes up saying temporarily closed. Did it yesterday afternoon and again this morning. Seems odd but whatever, maybe just one of those things. And one of the world trade center towers in Brussels was on fire yesterday but it didn't fall down. I guess that is good.

Well, another 10% tax on aluminum for American people... Our retaliation? Tax Canadians exactly the same.

Trump might be dense but when Freeland gives a speach about how bad this is for American people and economy and then does exactly the same thing to Canadians that is well beyond stupid.

"Canada refuses to be bullied..." what a stupid statement, we'd be way further ahead if we hadn't even acknowledged Trumps tarrif for Christ's sake.

And all to benefit Russia again.

China produces 33,000 MT of aluminum and Canada 2,900MT. Canada's import of aluminum is around $4B and it exports around $4B in 2019.

So, somehow, China with a foot print of a tenth of Canada is the world's greatest resource based economy for digging up aluminum and refining it where as Canada, once known as a great world resource based economy can barely hold itself at net zero. I would say Freeland and Trudeau have a long way to go to protect workers and it would start with importing a lot less aluminum. Otherwise I have to think those imports are undercutting Canadian jobs.

As for Trumps national security, if you pay attention to China's 3 gorges dam, it is certainly an interesting thing. Just suppose that dam did break. Just suppose. Approximately 330M people would be in serious risk of death, power plants wiped out including the generation of the dam itself, infrastructure devasted, basically a cataclysmic event. What would happen to daily production in China. Would it be back to normal in a week? Or is a few years more likely? And since most of our stuff is built in China, and if not all, let's say even 5% of an assembled product is sourced in China, what happens to our local economy? How long before that 207 bearing you need is no longer in stock and manufacturing restored to replace capacity lost in China.

It's interesting when we talk of global supply chain, free trade, and a communist country basically becomes the lynch pin for the world economy as a whole. And then a natural disaster, civil unrest, political upheaval or whatever happens to impact that one country and the chain implodes. It would almost be a national security issue. Wouldn't it? It would be an issue for my farm. But apparently not for the US judging from the response of all the "experts" when Trump says so.

In an unrelated matter, short vid of Trump responding to media asking why ordinary citizens are allowed in the press conference, and, gasp! Some not masked! And so Trump reminds them......

This is between Canada and the US, Russia has nothing to do with it. We need to stop being so dependant on foreign entities, it's that simple. Every country we deal with can screw us on a whim at any moment and there is nothing we can do about it. There are examples of this daily whether it's Trump and his shenanigans or China and the crap they pull etc.

Somebody should do some research and find out they are cleaning our government buildings with. There has to be something in there that sucks the intelligence out of anyone that enters those buildings. Phuck they are stupid in there, I mean everybody, I don't care what party they belong to.

Good meme offroad. In line with our government piling on debt to get cash into peoples pocket to save the economy - but drives forward with the carbon tax. Because no one knows better on how to run your life than someone in government so welcome to the Marxist/Communist/Socialist reality of an authoritarian body taking all your wealth and then giving a portion back to you once it has decided how the majority of it can best be spent on your behalf but not with your approval.

I got friends pissed off because Trump is putting a tarrif on. Because Trump apparently needs to run his country for the betterment of Canada first. Umm no. I am perfectly fine with a government looking after the interests of its own people. The TDS in the group got a little quieter when I said that.

I figure we are around a 70% tax rate when you figure all the tax you pay through the course of the year. It doesn't end with income tax, gst, PST - you have to look at all taxes and fees paid to government including licensing and such. Are we paying enough or do we need nonfarmer to come in and tell us that inflation caused by government and banker policy is making it hard on the poor so we all need to be taxed more? Or maybe people paying 60% to 80% of their earnings to government are not being charitable enough like they used to and that is capitalism based greed at work so governments need to take more to make up for this lack of goodness.

Lots going on last week with the FISA/Flynn storyline and how the Obama administration set it up. I see Susan Rice has been found to be using private email for government business too. Now why would so many of your government membersbbe doing that?

And the Ukraine funding investigation is still going on. Is Joe Biden still innocent and didn't do anything wrong? While we taxpayers keep paying so that our wealth can be stolen via government force and that wealth is used in ways to further destroy our lives.

Forgot to mention Trumps EO to implement a payroll tax cut. So working people can save more of their earnings and employers can also. And let's remember that big corporations don't pay hardly any tax to begin with, especially the ones able to offshore operations. So, when we talk corporate tax cuts, we are talking more so main street and not wall street. The big corporations paying next to no tax don't start getting money back from government if they pay even less.

And that is how a free society works. Individuals and businesses decide how their wealth is spent rather than government taking it who then gives it to cronies in Ukraine who then come back to America to buy up property and industry. The same industry some of those tax payers work in.

I also see Lebanons entire government has resigned today. Need to see exactly what "entire" means. It is because a fire Works factory ignited some fertilizer. Geez, talk about taking responsibility. And in the US local government won't even take responsibility for not enforcing the law, instead it is Trumps fault. But I would guess there is more going on in Beirut than a fireworks factory and farm supplies.
