It appears to me that attack retaliation has already taken place. Maybe things will just stay calmed down now for awhile.

The trouble with taking a swipe at the Islamic world epicentre, is that in the paramilitary sense, it isn’t an attack on a country, but rather an attack on a much larger alliance with a world wide reach, and you never know where those blurred allegiances start or end. It’s a sketchy non winnable business to ever get flippant about.

I would imagine if Qasem Soleimani could still think, he would wish that he had resigned in December, to avoid the appearance of hypocrisy? Turki Al Faisal of Saudi Arabia would have been his approximate equivalent in 2001.

“The first president of Al Mukhabarat Al A'amah was Sheik Kamal Adham, who served from 1965 to 1979.[3][4] Then Turki Al Faisal served as the president of Al Mukhabarat Al A'amah until 2001.[5] Prince Turki resigned abruptly from his post tens days before the 9/11 attacks in 2001 (in which 14 Saudi nationals hijacked and crashed US commercial airliners) despite having had his appointment extended in May 2001 for another four years.”

Trump declared the Kuds Force as a terrorist organization only in April of 2019. Iranian MPs declared all of the US military a ‘terrorist entity’ in the past hour.
Prior to that the Kuds paramilitary and intelligence forces shared in a couple of common causes in US lead conflicts going as far back as 1998. But not always, obviously.

[quotes]
“The Quds Force was designed to project Iranian influence through covert means. Soleimani and the Quds Force first came into prominence in 1998, after the Taliban murdered hundreds of Afghan Shi’a and nine Iranians (eight diplomats and a journalist) following the capture of the northern Afghan city of Mazar-i Sharif.”

“While senior Iranian military leadership advocated a massive punitive expedition into western Afghanistan, Soleimani advised a more constrained response, with his Quds Force providing training and material support to the Northern Alliance, an umbrella group of forces opposed to the Taliban. Soleimani personally directed this effort, transforming the Northern Alliance into an effective fighting force.”

“After the terrorist attacks of 9/11, the US used the Northern Alliance to establish a foothold in Afghanistan and eventually drive the Taliban from power. Soleimani played a major role behind the scenes helping make the US-Northern Alliance partnership viable, including providing operational and intelligence support.

The US-Iranian cooperation was short-lived; President Bush’s designation of Iran as being part of “an Axis of Evil” caused Iran to terminate its cooperation with the Americans.”

“Likewise, when the Islamic State erupted on the scene in 2014, it was Soleimani, at the invitation of the Iraqi government, who helped organize and equip various Shi’a militias under the umbrella of the Popular Mobilization Force. Soleimani went on to direct the PMF in a series of bloody battles that helped turn the tide against the Islamic State well before the US became decisively engaged in the fighting. Soleimani played a defining role in shaping the Middle East in the aftermath of 9/11, positioning Iran to become a major power in the region, if not the major power.”

The US unwittingly helped create Qassem Soleimani. Then they killed him.

While everyone is wrapping themselves up in virtue signaling and how killing someone whose entire purpose is to create death and chaos in an region is a bad thing and may lead to more deaths, how is Libya going these days? You remember that place. The one with no refugee crisis, or terrorists, highest standard of living in Africa a few years back. Until the UN went on a killing rampage and not only killed one guy, but 1000s. And left the country as a continued war zone with the death toll still rising and the UN thinking that maybe it should just cut its losses. Yes, it's big news to take out a militant in one country but non-existent news when another country is destroyed and left as a free-for-all. Do people need the TV to tell them what to think first before it becomes a discussion point?

So if Trump is personally responsible for Iran developments then how many 100s of people are personally responsible for the destruction of Libya since it is the UN involved which means many countries with their leadership as well as the leadership that is the UN itself.

In other news, the impeachment fiasco is making a common sense step where a resolution is tabled that the impeachment process must move forward in 25 days or be tossed out. If you voted on impeachment and the evidence is therefore sound and the person impeached is a liability to your governance then the process should be completed as soon as possible. But in our Orwellian world of 1984 things don't ever make sense and so the adults must step in and say that if what you are saying is correct then put it in play.

An all out war of the U.S and Iran will be no more of a war between Man and maggots.

Just when you thought the U.S was going to get the hell out of that shithole, Nope.

Remember that this was caused by Trump saying that Iran wasn’t in compliance with the Iran nuclear deal, then we pulled out with no alternative agreement in place, then we sanctioned the **** out of Iran which led to tensions between Iran/US relations, which then led to us disproportionately killing Suleimani without any attempts at diplomatic de-escalation, which then led to Iran bombing US military bases.

This was completely preventable and 100% caused by Trump.

No dipshit, this was preventable by not attacking the US embassy in Iraq, not being a bit terrorist and actually respecting his world wide travel ban and staying in Iran in the first place.

No if you want to assert the USA shouldn't be there in the first place I could agree with that.

Late last night a Ukraine registered 737 crashed while departing from inside Iran. Reports range from 167 to 180 passengers were on board, including 67 Canadians.

My sincere condolences to all of the families involved of all nationalities.

Edit: “The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry revealed that among those killed in Wednesday’s crash were 82 Iranians, 11 Ukrainians, 63 Canadians, four Afghans, three Germans, three British nationals and 10 Swedes.”

S&P hits all time high. All is well, the world hasn't ended regardless of whatever the experts on TV predict. Expect more of the same tomorrow, and after that, and after that. Kind of like North Korea if you have forgotten.

But I look forward to NF wailing away about the impending doom. After 4 years of being wrong on everything there is a slim chance of being correct, not likely but have my popcorn out none the less.

Just to add some reality to what I posted you all need to ask exactly how diplomacy between countries involves $1.8B in cash being flown around on pallets. Or those anti-Iranian regime protests that tend to result in violence/death to the protesters - but we don't need to remember that sort of thing when the news needs to show you the exact opposite in regards to one of their key oppressors funerals. I guess Iran is a very divided country with some dying protesting the regime and some die attending the funeral of a key regime person.

For those who missed Trumps statements this morning, he clearly stated the US (Obama) sent pallets of cash (taxpayer wealth) to Iran which was then used for terrorism (including attacking Americans). Just in case you didn't catch what the statement means without the MSM to provide a viewpoint on how to understand things.

In other news, remember the Fast and Furious gun running scheme of the Obama administration. The Border Patrol guard that was killed and blew it into the public sphere saw his killer sentenced today to life in prison. 9 years after the event. Things take time.

Also I see the UAW union fiasco is making news as the investigation is getting deeper and looking to treat the union as a racketeering enterprise. Imagine a union not necessarily working for its members but rather its own interests. And if that same enterprise also involves ownership/management of the auto companies the union is supposedly in opposition too, well things get interesting if you think where that all could go.

And let's not forget the "markets".
