Does anyone run a Drago corn head on a Gleaner? Thinking of going to a bigger head and I don't see any Drago heads on a Gleaner.

I was wondering if you could run a Drago on a Gleaner. I am not too happy with our hugger head.

I was watching a Drago DVD that I got in a magazine and i would like not having to mess with deck plates

Drago doesn't make a head for N/R series Gleaner. I was out at Husker Harvest Days last year. I liked the Drago setup and talked to a Drago Rep. If showed me the in's and out's of the head. Then he asked what kind of machine we run. After I mentioned R50, he said they currently don't make a offset head for the gleaner. Now the A series they either have or are working on.

Thats to bad. I would've really liked a Drago head. I like the Drago setup

I did too. I can't afford one, but would look for a used one in a few years if one was made. I'd bet if they got enough interest, they'd make one. I liked the self adjusting deck plate idea and the chopping head would be great for no tilling beans the next year.

I guess that rep didn't know much that you talked to at Husker Harvest days. I run one on my R-65 or which will be an R-66 this year. Last fall was second season with it. We have the offset done on the head, because we have the drive wheels dished out and run a 6 row head. So we drive over rows 1 and 6. I really like it, does a great job in our twin row corn. We had to send the head to a welding shop to fabricate it to get it to fit. I know they had sent pics into Drago to show them how we made ours work. So Drago is aware of it. If you have any ?'s feel free to ask. Hey Gregory....i'm sure in a couple years mine will be for sale. I like to trade every 4 years or so.

Stonypharmer is yours a chopping head and do you prefer to run on the rows ?

Yes chopping head and yes run on the rows. Like to run on rows to help decrease compaction in no till.

I'd sure like to have one, but need an 8 row. That rep did tell me a good machine shop probably could fabricate a hook up, but he didn't know anything about gleaners except it is offset. I heard they work great in down corn without a corn reel.

run a8-30 drago with chopper on 03 r65 . couldnt be happier. had to modify adapter plate, auger flighting, and cut 3 inches off rh drive shaft. i did it myself in about 4 hours. head is very well built, and i dont miss adjusting the deck plates. beleive it or not takes less power than our old head, not from the head but i think its from almost no trash going through.

bighopper glad to see you got registered and told how good yours works. The chopper just makes more noise. I really like the self adjusting plates you have.
