Draper on a 2388???

I have an 02 2388 and found a 36' Mac Don draper Head for sale, and want to know if I need to do any adjustments to my combine? I have only two lift cylinders and no weight on the back and have factory length unload auger. Will this work? Is this head too big for my combine? Input please!!

The head will work on the combine but you must definitely add a third lift cylinder and weight on the back end. I think a second steering cylinder is also recommended. The unload auger might be a bit too short for comfort. One of the aftermarket companies sells a product called the extender to lengthen it.
Make sure the adapter on it is for your paticular combine. To switch it over is very expensive. 10000 - 15000 I believe!!
Thanks a lot, How much weight do i need to put on the back end of my combine? (approximately)
Case makes a weight rack to put back there or you can do like we do and fill the back tires with calcium.....actually added 100 more pounds than the weight rack and it will handle that draper head easily

get a 3rd lift cylindar cause you have too...and a 3 ft auger extension...there not too hard to put on.. just follow directions two a T.......

you will really like this head....
Also u could get by just unloading into a truck without the 3 ft extension on the unloading auger but unloading on the go is out of the question..
i drove a '00 2388 with a 972 macdon 36ft head and it only had 2 lift rams!!! but you'll def need a extension if you want to unload on the go, even if its a offset head.

that kinda defeats the purpose of a larger header. I don't think you could make up for unloading on the go with 6 extra feet.
I agree, we have a big tractor and cart plus we are running a 2188 and another 2388, so I would have to get the extension.
some people might now want to unload on the go in beans.....even with the extra 3 ft its a pretty close call.....

weve been doing it since we got the drapers cause we kinda have too now.. but it might not be for everyone....
