Have a few customers looking at dry fertilizer application. One in particular is wanting to apply it with a new John Deere strip till unit. Just curious how many forum members would have feedback on dry fertilizer application, storage and handling. Any information regarding special challenges or advantages to using dry fertilizer in strip tillage would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The biggest problem with dry fertlizer is moisture, if you keep it dry works fine. We have been strip tilling using only dry
fertlizer, N P K all blended into a single mix and one pass the fertlizer is all applyed. It is easy to get the exact mix
needed for each field. We have a 6 ton tender and the striptiller holds 6 ton. The N is urea, that way we don't have to
deal with NH3 or 28%. Makes it simple to mix and handle. Don't know of any special challenges for dry fertlizer just
different ones. If the customer has a unit set up properly they should get along fine.

The only problem you will have ,as far as plugging, will depend on the delivery system coupled to the bar. We ran a potash, dap, ams combo this fall at 500 lbs/acre @ 7mph with no problems.
