Drying wheat from 19 percent moisture down to 13.5 what temperature is the highest I can safely use and still preserve good germination. Running at 190 f at the moment and putting through 600 bu an hour. Thanks.
Why do you want to dry seed wheat down to 13.5? 15% moisture will keep just fine if its been dried and cooled properly. Far less chance of damaging wheat with respect to germ. etc. when handling at 15%.
I definitely would not go higher than 190 F.
Our dryer manual says plenum temperature should be maximum of 150 degrees and the maximum grain temperature should be105 degrees for seed. This is in a circulating batch drier which I would think would be easier on the seed than a fixed batch.
