My Dyna Flex is making a noise i can best describe as a sickle section hitting a loose/bent guard. It only does this when I am pushing hard and in decent beans. The noise goes away as soon as I slow combine or raise head (makes diagnosis difficult). It appears to be coming from left hand side of head.

I have checked for loose guards and damaged sections. I see no evidence of steel hitting on steel anywhere nor do I feel any heat from bevel gears, bearings, belts, etc...

Anybody have any ideas?

Thanks

Figured it out.

It's the combine. Stop sign is flexing too much and allowing discharge paddles to hit.

Thanks to this website and all the contributors I recalled others having this problem and posting about it a few weeks ago. Just took me a while to put 2 & 2 together.

Thought so. I had the same experience thinking it was the sickle. Setting in the seat sure sounds that way.

So far great! Engine is unreal...changes to the feeding system have been a huge success too. Perhaps some day I will mention more in a new thread but again I'm very happy and thoroughly impressed.
