Our 60x100 shop has tin around the inside, but I've never noticed an echo. The ceiling is a soft insulation (fiberglass blanket with a white plastic surface) and maybe that is absorbing some of the sound.

The tin on the walls isn't perfectly flat with ribs. There are 3 angles between the ribs, which should help to deflect the sound in different directions.

I once toured a Gateway computer facility in Kansas City, and they used tin on the ceiling to kill the sound. The tin was perforated, and it really soaked up the sound.

Our shop is insulated and doesn't echo. The walls are covered with corrugated steel about half way up, the insulation is left exposed for the rest of the wall and ceiling.

Check on perforated steel, we did every 3rd panel on the ceiling and part way down the back wall the length of the building. All steel with a nice finished look, the perforated slightly higher cost than plain panels but worth it.

I put a shop up last summer. I went with what they called the simple save saver system on the ceiling. I was told it would cut echo by 60% and have been happy with it so far. Was the same price as steel and can be washed when needed. Here is a pic you can kind of see it in.
