Have a look at this then:

All I know about this combine, is that it's made by the European manufacturer MDW, in CaseIH colors. The reason they made it with front wheel steer was (as far as I remember...) so that it legally could travel with 40 km/h (about 25 Mph...) on the roads in Europe...

Yes I have actually. Though only in pictures, there are several of them on the net. I think farmphoto.com has some of the Arcus in its original colors.

I think it's a great concept. The only thing is, for those with heavy or wide headers, the swing of that much weight or width with front steering would be a tough thing to deal with. But for a narrow, or lighter weight header, it would sure be nice. Especially for windrowed crops. (course that could be argued too. Maybe its am area specific thing)

In early, early 1960s International Harvester had the model 91 combine (a smaller machine) that steered like a modern swather does for the most part. The rear wheels just tagged along behind.

That Arcus was supposed to do around 40t/hr, although I remember reading a post once where someone said it wasn't very good in very thick crops. I have seen pics of them bright blue with a rainbow stripe on the side.
