I have been farming the living room with my 5 year old son today when we decided we needed more stuff. after digging around a while in the attic I found what he consider the jack pot! if you have tried to buy new toys you know you can't build a complete line of equipment, all different scale, style of hitches or high detail and have to be left on the shelf. The old stuff we found in the attic you can turn the steering wheels, the headers on the combines change and the reels move when you roll them, the beaters on the manure spreader turns, working grain augers, pick up reels on balers the list goes on the point is if you ever seen a kid play with this it is amazing to see how interest they become in how it works. now my 9 year old daughter has put her kindle down to help plant the living room. If we would put a little bit more pride in our work (regardless of what we do) maybe it would not be so hard to get the next generation to work

Just for kicks, look to see if the old toys are American made. Can rest assured the new are China made and no pride goes into them. Profit took over pride in workmanship when manufacturing went overseas.

My little guy is pretty young so I have only bought a few replicas of things that we farm with and I have got some nice eartl toys, quality looks good and they are a little more detailed then when I was little, bought some here just recently for the little man on the way. I think it all depends where you buy them, I get them right from the dealers but you pay a price for quality, I do wish they had some more of this short line type stuff like a Miller sprayer, Brandt grain carts, and Great Plains planters

the hitches on the high details aren't big enough to hook anything up. I got a special edition combine from agco when I bought my new combine and the inside of the cab is empty no seat steering wheel or anything it was made by ertl in usa
