There is an old thread or two about this already. The FD1 threads from 2017/18 weren't very positive.
Just wondering if a few years later these headers ended up changing some negative opinions.
FD75 ended up proving itself to be tried and true, did the FD1 ever accomplish that?

I liked the feed drum design better on the FD1. Otherwise both headers were comparable. One thing to watch out for is the bearing on the drive roller on the centre draper. Macdon quietly changed them to a 10 hr grease. From experience grease them everyday. Mine lit up last year…. End result was both header and combine gone, 40 acres of wheat and almost a yard site. Talked to my dealership and apparently lots of those bearings failed last year

Any idea what changed for them to start failing early like that? Cheap bearings? Used to only grease the fd70 canvas bearings a couple times a year and never had a failure. Really shouldn't have to grease a ball bearing every day to keep it from falling apart.

Napa has the push on fittings in stock in swift current, but the hose is the hold up. They have all the different thread sizes and 90 degree etc. will have to get creative for mounting the top end where grease nipple goes. Haven’t found a good fitting for that yet.
We will do final drives on our S series combines at the same time, most of use don’t fit in there !

WHy not just use already existing parts from grease banks on combines? The fittings already designed to mount into a hole with a retainer nut and the 1/8" NPT hoses. You may need several lengths.

A clipped picture from a JD 7720 auger swing grease bank.... I'm sure there are many others.

If I had a good hyd shop around I would do that. Ha. Yea the parts from existing equipment is a good idea, just need to know what equipment, but looks like you have a good print out there. Thanks.

I believe the issue was with the bearing housing on the top driven roller.
Mine is a 2019, I think that the design was holding dust between the housing and the dust shield, there was a change in 2020 that changed the housing to allow some dust to fall out, which was then changed again 2021.
I never had any issues but I did grease it when it was new, I didn't use the header in '21('20 update) but the latest replacement ran warm until I got enough grease to settle it in, only a few hours. I think there was not enough grease to start with in the new bearing.

If you want to make grease lines just use semi truck air brake line. You can yours the push style couplers. They have 1/8 pipe thread same as a grease fitting. Truck air lines run a 120 psi or better. So it should with stand a grease gun.
