Minimum needs: delivery vehicle, mill preferably roller, mixer with scale, hopper bin for unmilled grain, hopper bin for milled grain, hopper for bulk protein, associated augers, shed. I probably missed some stuff. Is this for personal use or will you be toll milling?

what's the exact use for the mill: feeding in a mix or grain in a trough?

if it's in a mix of any kind, a hammer mill my be a better choice. We feed Holsteins a tmr with silage, hay and ddgs, so having the grain finely ground from the hammer mill makes sure we are extracting all the calories possible

however, if you are feeding grain once or twice a day, I would absolutely go with the roller mill. The larger kernels left from that will be a safer source of energy with much less risk of acidosis and other troubles. We used to use a roller mill as well, and they can also work in a mix setting if you decide to go that way in the future...
