I have been having trouble with my1680's field tracker last year and still going on this year. I had dealer work on it three times last year and twice this year and still not fixed. The right side will start raising off the ground while cutting for no reason, If I turn the tracker on off switch off and on it sometime fixes it for a few rounds and it usually works ok about a hour when I first start working for the day. This is getting expensive and frustrating, so far new wires from cab to plug, new plug, and new harnesses on 1020 and a new sensor on right side of head. The problem is hard to fix because it works some of the time, mechanic is stumped, do I need knew control in cab or what else could it be? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!!!!

Do you have a 2-way radio in the cab, or some power wires running by the control circuits?

We have one 2388 that will raise one side of the header when we key the mic on our 2-way radio. As soon as we let go of the talk button, the header goes back to normal. I figured it is some kind of interference or electrical noise. In our case, we just shut the field tracker off for a couple seconds to talk, then turn it back on.

I feel your pain, I have the same problem with my 1660. Five hours of mechanics time, new potentiometers and new wiring harness in head...still no luck. Sometimes the reel will go crazy during its little fit. Does anybody have any input? I am about to pull the trigger on the old girl!

Thanks for the reply urlucky, I hope someone does have a fix. I am one hour away from dealer ,so two hours labor each time in travel time pay. I have 400 acres of soybeans to cut yet and it does work on your nerves when you have to watch end of head all the time thru dust and sun glare and I do live where rocks are something else to watch for. I think there is a 2188 a few miles away that is doing the same thing.

I finally got the field tracker fixed but you won't want to hear how much it cost to fix it!!!! It needed a new control module which set me back $720 and the cost for overnight freight from a dealer in Iowa to Western NY. Because Case didn't even have any in stock in the whole country.... How is that for Case??? It had to come out of a dealer stock. This is the second part this season that this has happened with. Glad that other dealers have in stock what we might need in case of an emergency and truly glad that they would sell it to a non-customer.
