Im new to an R-62 that I use mainly for grass seeds but now Im in some rust, smut, drought, rain, damaged wheat.

I know I need filler plates but my combine is a corn and bean machine, and didnt come with any. And the closest dealer I can get them at is 200 miles aways. I would like to build some myself so I can be in the field tommorow , but I dont have a clue what they look like, where they go, and how they are installed, Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had a combine come into my area from a jocky for a hundred hour rental. Concave and bars were extremely compromised and needed to thresh in hours. I cut some 1/8" X 1 1/4" X 1 1/4" angle irons. 6 of them 7" long and 4 of them 3" long will do the first two openings in concave. That is all the way forward. I found some old vise grips and picked up some cheap ones at hardware to clip them onto cross bars under the wires. You can repeat the same for third and or fourth if needed. The side fillers for third and fourth can be more like 4" long. We usually just fill the front three spots in our area and then tighten front of concave as needed for complete thresh. Hopefully this gives you a good idea on what you need to do.

If you need to make a filler plate quick just take some plastic, nothing special just from an old 5 gallon pail or something similar. Cut the plastic to the size you need to fill. Then put the plastic up into place, take a drill with a small bit and drill holes in plastic on either side of the concave wire in a few places and then tie the plastic to the concave wire in with mechanics wire. This sounds weird but it does work.
