I have a number of acres of flax planted June 12. The farm is low testing soil and I only applied 55Map and 35potash with the seed. My concern is whether or not Nitrogen would be warranted in this situation? I'm nervous the N will keep the crop too green.

I usually foliar 5-7 liters of ortho 3-18-18 on these farms which always has helped with K deficient issues on canola and usually got 5-700 pound extra/acre yield... Could I expect similar results with flax?

I think it's too late for headline this time around??? Afraid of adding too many days.

Thoughts??

When do you expect your first frost? (what area are you in?) my neighbour seeded flax july 5th a couple years ago, and it matured in time to be harvested, although he didn't do that...

I think at the very least a lower rate of N is a must

Im in northeastern Ontario. We always freeze off by Sept 20 although light frost can be expected Sept 10.
