Well using Liberty for an example go to the MSDS for Liberty. Found here. Click on the PDF for Liberty english. Scroll down and see that Liberty 280 is 1.15 grams/cubic centimeter.
Since water is 1 gram/cubic centimeter, can't you just treat this 1.15 as a multiplier and skip the whole british unit thing? 1.15 * 8.34 #/gal = 9.591 #/gal for Liberty. 2.53 #/L?

Or .... stay metric. 1.15g/cc equals 1.15kg/litre.

If you really must convert to lbs just multiply that by 2.2046 to get lbs/litre.
