Does anyone here have - or know someone who has - a Ford 642 combine or similar (maybe a 640/630/620 or 632/622)? I work for a European farm machinery magazine (www.profi.co.uk) and would like to feature one of these ina magazine article. If anyone has any photos or would be prepared to take some, please leave a message here or contact me at [email protected] If anyone can help, I'll send some goodies in return - a free sub to the magazine, or some of our farm machinery DVDS perhaps.
Many thanks
Martin

There is farmer north of Hill City Kansas that has around 8 blue ford combines, some running, some for parts. They all have cabs as well and some look a little different than the others but I do not know the model numbers. We could probably find out if you are serious.

i think i can shed a little light on the Ford Combine info here.

Ford 642 = Claas Dominator 85
Ford 640 = Claas Mercerator
Ford 630 = Claas Senator
Ford 622 = Claas Consul
Ford 620 = Claas Consul (smaller engine and grain tank)
Ford 611 is the only ford combine that was painted red, and was built by oliver for ford before the contract with claas.

the Ford 642 and the 622 were the last models on the ford combine line. the 611 was the first, 620, 630 and 640 were the next models up from the 611.

I am too far away to get any photos but maybe fordboy can sometime. The owner is a neighbor of some of the guys that I have cut for in the past. The combines are all north of Morland, KS. 1 or 2 are in a field and the guy I saw using them lives north of there. I saw him running at least 2 of them and there was at least 4 more in the yard. I do not know if the 2 in the field are owned by the same owner but I think that they are. I could probably call one of the guys and find out the fellows name and go from there if some of you guys want to take a look or get pictures.

Than you, Ford642. I knew the Mercators were included in there as were the later Senators and early Dominators. I just did not know there were any Consuls involved.
The Model 611 [the only red SPC, the WB pulls were also red] was actually the exact same as the Oliver Model 25, with a slightly different styled radiator screen and maybe some cosmetics. I really think Oliver [White] fully intended to sell ALL of this model to Ford, but it just never worked out. Ford was simply NOT the name in combines they were in tractors.
Testament to this, is the large embossed oval on the sides of the walker bodies on which to receive the intended Ford name decal.

Martin, we have 2 642 Ford combines. They have the british ford diesel engine.(Very good engine.) These machines have 15 ft. heads and 6 row corn heads. We also have a 106 Claas Dominator that we bought new. It is one of the blue ones. Also we have a green Class 108SL and a Massey 8460. We still use the 108 and 8460 in soybeans and wheat. 20 ft. bean heads and 20ft. shelbourne for wheat. One of the 642's is set up to harvest clover seed, the other is set up for wheat and beans.

Thanks for all the feedback everyone. You're right Steve, I suppose it is just a Claas Senator. Still, how different paint jobs because of marketing agreements make some machines more interesting! That Kansas farm north of Hill City sounds really intriguing. As I said, if anyone has any photos, there are rewards on offer!!!

I saw about five or six ford combines last summer in a tree row east of Liebenthal KS (just north of La Crosse). There were a few different models, there some with Blue cabs and some with white cabs and I believe that there was even one without a cab.

I didn't realise how great a response this would get! Thanks everyone.
The blue Dominators sounds really interesting, FactoryFarmer.
Do you have any photos of your machines, 9996 and Haley? Would love to see them.
Thanks for setting out those model numbers, Ford642.
Those are great pictures, 20advance. Would you be willing to send me a good quality/high-res copy of the last one? My email is [email protected]
Thanks again to everyone

here are a few pics of my neighbors Ford 642 (claas Dominator 85) combine. this one is the early version that was made. the pics posted above are the later models. you can tell because of the air conditioner on the cab, and the PTO leading up the auger. plus other little things make them different.
