Going to be building a new shop in the near future and was wondering if anyone has installed a glass overhead door in there shop. If you have, what size did you go and what do these things cost? Want to get lots of natural light in the shop and I can't think of any better way than having the large overhead door glass.

Lots of guys in my area have polycarbonate doors which let a lot of light in but are blurry so you can't see inside if your worried about security. I am interested in glass door because I see many new buildings using them, they are the same price as polycarbonate and 100% more than a std insulated door. Glass doors are certainly a lot heavier not sure how strength or insulation factor into it.

I had the door open on the shop a bit the other day when I was having waste oil furnace probs and this really got my attention, something to give me that sunlight appeal would be amazing, might make it harder to hide when you see someone show up you don't want to see, haha, sometimes I wish shops had key fobs like cars so I could lock up when ever. I really find this sweet, but one thing I wondered was what kind of tinting do they do, like to keep the shop cool in the summer as much as I like it warm in the winter, the other thing would be I wash a lot of stuff in the shop, how frosted over would it get when I open and close it

I like the idea for light year around and helping with heat in the winter, but I think it would also heat up in the summer. It's always nice in the summer when your working outside in 30 degree weather to come inside and its 15 or 20.

Talked to a guy that is part owner of a siding and window company and he said they have the technology to tint a window and put some sort of light in the pain to make the tint go away, he said it worked great but the interest wasn't there, I think this would make one of them amazing if a guy could find someone to set one up like that, it would definitely have a lot going for it anyways
