I am looking to upgrade from an 8700 white combine, and have narrowed it down to a gleaner r 52 or an 8570 MF. Looking for anyones thoughts on which way to go. We grow 500 of corn, beans, or wheat. thanks for everyones input

I'm not quiet sure what your position is but I would go with a Gleaner, from what I heard the MF 8570 was not the greatest combine at the time, my neighbor used to have one and he hated it, now he drives a gleaner r62 [not to much different from a r52] and loves it in wheat and soybeans but not as much in corn because he is hog farmer and is very picky on feed quality, he finds that it cracks more corn kernels then a case ih rotor or John Deere sts. If your not after crop quality for livestock feed I would go with the Gleaner combine, they sure can take the punishment of harvest after harvest and can be very reliable, too bad a lot of people in Ontario Disrespect the Gleaner Brand, Hines the poor resale value in Ontario. I think the Gleaner is the best bang for your buck and I would pick the R52 over the 8570 mf. What part of Ontario are you from anyway? Just wondering.

I'd go with the Gleaner personally. We had excellent luck with our R-62 especially in grain loss and quality. The R-52 would be a good size for the amount of acres you will be covering. Not to mention a better buy for the buck vs the MF. The MF might be a bit of overkill for those acres, unless you couild pick up a couple hundred more.

would love to add more acres but with the recent and on going downward trend in prices, make you start to wonder what to do. 50000 doesn't sound like a lot for a 97 r52 with 1500 eng hours, but its finding the head to fit it, that may cause headaches

I farmed 2000 acres at one time with a masey 8560 and a 918 flex 6rn corn head it was a great machine with good reliability the 8570 is even better however now with 400 acres i have a gleaner L2 and so far so good Karl
