Dear Valued Customer:
As you probably know, our company evolved from what was the Allis-Chalmers Corporation.
Though we never officially went by the name Allis-Gleaner Company, the name AGCO will forever
be tied to its deep roots in agriculture. In our early years, it was loyal customers like you who helped
us grow and prosper.
Some two decades and numerous acquisitions later, we have grown to become the third largest
agricultural equipment company in the world. With multiple brands in our portfolio, we now do business
in over 140 countries and have emerged from a tractor and combine business into a leading technology
provider, competing in virtually all segments. Because of our success, the success you contributed to,
the need to adapt to change has become inevitable.
A decision for our future.
Some time ago, we announced a decision to reduce the number of brands we offer. By focusing our
resources on fewer, stronger brands and product lines, we can foster stronger dealers and bring more
innovation to key areas for our customers. In the end, our decision had to be made in the spirit of becoming
a better company. A more productive resource. And a nimble partner structured to answer your continually evolving needs.
While the specific timing has not been determined, we have decided to phase out the familiar orange
tractors sold under the AGCO brand. Let me assure you that this decision was anything but easy.
Given the significance of “orange paint” in our company, we had to consider its impact on our employees,
our AGCO dealers – and most important of all – customers like you.
AGCO and your dealer will be there for you.
When you purchased your AGCO tractor you put your trust in us. To not only give you a tractor that
does the job, but for the product support to back it up. We will honor our promise. We are working with
AGCO dealers on a plan to transition them over time to Massey Ferguson dealerships, or in some cases Challenger. Either way, AGCO is committed to providing you with comparable models – in most cases
built on the same platform as your AGCO tractor – that will provide you with choices you'll find every
bit as satisfying. And we will demonstrate that your relationship with your dealer can not only be maintained,
but improved, with a full line of hardworking products and enhanced service and support.
Naturally, AGCO will stand behind your dealer with parts and full warranty support for your orange tractors.
In fact, today, we still supply parts for orange tractors dating back to the fifties and we are committed to keeping your orange tractor running strong. But our long-term goal is to find real, tangible ways to convince you that evolving from orange to red or yellow can be a positive, fruitful experience.
Another great tradition lives on.
To our customers wondering about the future of Gleaner combines, I would like to take this opportunity
to say that Gleaner absolutely has a long future. The innovative technology we have in our silver Gleaner transverse combines sets us apart from the rest. We are committed to growing Gleaner, as evidenced by the investments we're making in even more aggressive advancements. And we feel that the best is yet to come!
We want to keep you in the family.
Today AGCO is building some of the best products in the industry, from our tractors with their innovative
CVT transmissions to our Hesston balers and our Sunflower disc harrows. Our future is brighter than ever. And our best days are ahead.
Our goal is to help make sure yours are too, by being there for you with a strong family of full-line dealers
who can provide you with the very best choices and the very best products.
For a very long time to come.
You have helped AGCO grow to become what it is today. We appreciate your loyalty more than you know. Given the chance, we will work harder than ever to reward that loyalty. And continue working to earn it,
every single day.

Thank You,

Well it looks like I'll be making the switch to Case IH tractors. I'll try to stay loyal to Gleaner as long as possible but the way things are looking I may abandon them as well. All thanks to AGCO and their inability to make up their f**k**g mind.

I don't care what color the d**n thing is, I'm not going to spend that kind of money on a tractor that old with that many hours. In my mind one brand is worth just as much as the next.

Nice try oldroy. I still stand behind that statement when it comes to used equipment. But when I'm trying to support a company and buying their new equipment I'd like them to figure out what the heck brands they're going to sell. At this rate what names and colors are we going to see Agco's equipment being sold as in 10 years. Like I said before why should I continue to stand behind a company who can't stand behind their own products. Agco can't continue to be indecisive about what the want to call their tractors and other equipment every few years. Hate to keep trying to tell people this, but decisions like that drive customers away.

White and Allis went to the chopping block because Agco execs wanted the company name on the side of a tractor. And the customers were told that it was to cut down on identiclal lines of tractors. Well we got the AGCO tractor and then not long after came the Challenger line and we had the same number of identical tractors that we were told Agco was trying to get away from. So now that can't even stand behind the tractor that bears the company name that they wanted so bad and had to have, and two other brands disappeared because of it.

Agco really needs to take a look at the history books and learn a few lessons. Yes I am a White fan but I won't deny that when Oliver/MM/Cockshutt merged into White they lost customers. Allis Chalmers into Duetz Allis they lost customers. White and Agco Allis into AGCO I know for a fact they lost customers. Sure you may gain a few from other brands but losing more guys to those other brands because of it doesn't really seem to pay off.

And the already diminishing Agco dealer network thinks that throwing MF into AGCO's place is just going to solve everything. Well to the big wigs in the drivers seat at Agco, please pull your head out of your you know what. Many Agco dealers don't even handle MF, and for a reason. Because it doesn't sell. Eliminating AGCO and throwing MF in it's place isn't just going to magically solve that problem. And how much longer is it going to be before the decide that maybe the Challenger brand isn't working out or that the MF replacing AGCO might not have cracked up to what they thought it was going to? Then what? So we watch Agco go through all this BS again? What name will it be this year? What color? All I have to say to Agco is good luck, but if this is how it is then I'm done with them. They're driving themselves out of the NA market as we speak.

I am just totally guessing but I would surely think if agco stops making orange tractors the value of 2 yo, 5 yo, 10 yo, heck who knows maybe even 20 yo tractors has to go down in retrospect to other brands. I just see very few people, certainly not me, in line to buy a 2 year old tractor that the company does not make the same model of anymore. Ya they say there will be parts for them, maybe till they are out of stock on the parts. To make killer money on parts is to mass produce items. They are not going to be mass producing items that are not being built anymore. I dont really know much about the whole deal, maybe the orange red and yellow are all the same tractor but surely some of the parts are different.

The only difference between them is the color of the interior and the control console in the Agco's/MF are a bit different from the Challengers. When It was White/Allis/MF they had different motors but everything else was the same. Parts aren't really a problem. We have a 1980 2-135 that we have no problems getting parts for if needed. Todays aftermarket parts network is pretty darn good.

Hi Chevyman
I am not trying to be a "know it all" but my dealer in Camrose, Alberta gave me this exact info 3 weeks to a month ago. My answer to him was "what does it help if the "gleaner" brand is still going to continue because all the dealers in my local area including this dealer do not stock new "GLEANER" combines and have not for the past several years. In fact we rarely see a used "62", "72" etc on an auction anymore. The factory maybe be supporting the brand but the dealers are selling "Massey, Challenger, and Lexion" in preference to Gleaner.

medicineman that may be the case in your area but the R series was 50% of the production at Hesston when I was there last Jan. I will be there again in Jan. and will see if it is still the same. Here we have only sold 2 A series and they went to the same guy. He started with a 75 and now has a 86

Onionfarmer this dropping orange is a pride thing. If you were raised on Allis-Chalmers this is a link to your past. Each dealer and customer situation is different, but as you read here dropping a color is going to cost Agco sales. Henry Ford started with one color but eventually he offered more to boost sales. Most orange guys don't understand the reasoning of this move. It may make sense in Germany but the last I knew Agco headquarters were still in Georgia, USA. I think if they had decided to drop the red color you would get some guys making a mountain out of a mole hill too.

I can understand where you are coming from ,I just look at it from the stand point that they are the same tractor. When they started building the orange tractors in the Massey plant they are a Massey in my mind. The good thing they are going to keep Gleaner and improve it as it should be.Getting the Agco dealer to be a Massey /Gleaner dealer should not be a big problem. The problem comes when you have a Massey dealer and a Agco dealer in the same town. I believe in Agco and can't believe what they have done since 1990.Even if you are a Deere fan it should impressed you what Agco has done in 19 years.

Loosing dealers by consolidating colors isn't anyway to gain market share. Most Agco dealers carry versatile, at least around here. AGCO tractors are/were their largest selling brand in N. America. That single fact should be enough to keep that brand around. Chevy, who also makes GMC, and nearly identical pickup, isn't going to discontinue Chevy pickups, and decide to sell GMC in their place, and they did go broke! Why? Chevy sells more!

The Gleaner may still be made, but how is the Gleaner network going to come out in all of this. Correct me if I am wrong, but aren't Gleaner and AGCO almost always found together? Now Gleaner is going to be sold along MF and Challenger, which have their own combines? I don't see how this bit of ingeniousness is going to work. What about the dealers that aren't going to have an Agco brand made available to them because they are taken in that area? If I was that dealer, I would feel like I was left in the cold to die. If that dealer goes away, so does my Gleaner support. That is a problem. So, I am not too impressed with the best is yet to come statement. They haven't tried to move their best through the turmoil they are creating. If they aren't going to be put out on a lot or ordered through a dealer, how are they going to move them? The lots/dealers are going to be moving red or yellow equipment.

rburk,

Massey guys where without new Massey machines for multiple years. We survived and adapted. It's my opinion, Allis was killed when the company went all out in energy and sold their ag division to Deutz.

Wafarmer,

I have to disagree with you on your AGCO tractor statement. Last, I knew it was ten Masseys to one AGCO tractors in North America comparing the two machines. Don't rationalize your area as all of North America.

Masseypride we are lucky that we have a good dealer that handles Massey and Gleaner and agco tractors. As your name suggests you have pride in a name or color. I have accepted that they are dropping the orange color. We bought a used Massey tractor a couple years ago. We are thinking of trading our Gleaner next year and demoed a 9690 combine this fall. I think it would have made more sense for Agco to consolidate the management of all brands and let the dealers choose what they want to sell. As far as tractors in North America I don't know what the numbers are but I don't think they are 10 to 1 Massey. I guess it bothers Orange guys that Agco was started by previous AC management guys and now German guy in charge decides to drop Orange.

Masseypride who do you think your kidding with those numbers of 10 to 1 Massey? I suppose you think they sell more Massey combines then Gleaners also. I dont know why you guys that like massey try to defend this stupid move on Agcos part. There is nothing ,financial or anything else to back up what they are doing. Look what has happened in the last few years. They paint the Massey combine silver and call it a gleaner. They redesign the outside to make it look more modern. What did they do to there best selling combine? (which I know and you do to is the R series) ? Its a choice they made and they will live with it. I think this move will kill the Gleaner sales off, because Agco dealers carry the orange tractors and Gleaner combines. I think it will kill 50% of the Gleaner sales over the next few years. Presto, we are no longer in the NA market. The Gleaner combine will be gone within 5 years,Agco is a bunch of LIARS. They just came out and said they are committed to the orange tractor less then a year ago. LONG LIVE THE FAMILY FARM ,now we are dropping it?????????? Make sense?????? We are commited to the Gleaner combine...............Yea right.
