Gps updates?

Have been told for while now that the next lot of gps on rtk will talk to all base stations? So if you have a autofarm base and have a deere/ CNH screen receiver it should talk to the tower, and any word on pro700 update? And is there a gs4 iPad type screen?

I would highly doubt it - all the manufacturers have a vested interest in keeping it segregated so that you are locked into buying their brand of iron.... John Deere have blinked slightly by giving the users the ability to generate A-B lines in the same way a Trimble/AutoFarm etc would, but it still need a JD Base to run off - you can't use a Trimble/AutoFarm one.
There are a couple of options using Raven GPS Gear that will allow you to use any reciever....... Not overly cheap
That would only work if RTK bases all became Mobile RTK station sites and a 3rd party is used for the accuracy through the mobile phone / modem network. Not sure many deere bases that use Free to Air radio signal to transmit the corrections will change to a dealer pay and also customer pay service but who knows what is around the corner in a few years time
Maybe you should look at the local CORS network if avalible. I am running on it with RTK and move around a bit over about 40km and dont even think about base stations. It seems to work well and is very cost effective.
From what I hear the manufacturers are working together to try to come up with some kind of compatibility. I think it will be that you can mount any brand receiver on any brand equipment. We are several years away from that though.

I'd be really surprised if you can run a JD or CNH system on an Autofarm base. I know for a fact we can't run Trimble or CNH off of anything but a Trimble base, so I'd be even more surprised if JD decided they wanted to play nice and make their systems compatible with a third party base station.

Trimble 372 can run off an outback base. Any trimble receiver can run off a raven slingshot base.
I wonder if they would run off a auto farm base?
I believe raven can pretty much run any reciever on their system. I personally seen JD recievers and trimble being used. I dont believe they were much better than ravens own though. The next couple of years could be quite exciting in the GPS world with a lot of companys trying to take that next big step forward. Costs look like the are going to drop significantly as well. Its starting to be a really competitive market out there which can only be a good thing
I was told by a deere sales man At the end of this season the john deere itc receivers will not work. What economic options do we have to keep existing monitors and wiring intact in the cab. A new john deere auto steer system lists around 17400.00. Can we still use the 2600 or the brown boxes with a new receiver. Will the existing older wiring work on a new receiver. Can the itc receiver be retrofitted by a third party electronic company like ag west electronic .There will be a lot of obsolete gps systems. To bad , deere did this as I was happy with just standard no frills gps!

Any body find a way to keep the old john deere auto steer system going.
If you can find a used 3000 receiver, it will work with both the 2600 and the brown box. I know this because I have a brown box and it works fine with the 3000. I've heard, but do not know first hand, that the 6000 receiver will work with the brown box also.

I picked up a couple of used 3000 receivers, and sadly one failed after 10 hours, and the other one seemed to come with a broken TCM. I plan to send them both off for repair when I get a chance.

I'm also going to do my own autosteer and GPS next winter, probably using BrianTee's AgOpenGPS. I am moving to a low-cost RTK system based on the ZED-F9P, and alas John Deere's price for RTK is a bit steep.
