hello. i am setting up our new RG700 sprayer. traditionally, 20 inch spacing is what people run around here. this machine has 15 inch spacing which creates some new learning. i am seriously considering the green leaf TDVR nozzles. does anyone here currently use these or any other variable rate nozzle? my target is 10gpa with speeds of 8-15mph, and sometimes up to 20gpa same speeds. online sales literature indicates these nozzles can handle my wishes. any real experience from anyone???? thanks!!!

Typically, the main thing to keep in mind is the tip's variable rates are based on the pressures going into the tip (think of it as a spring loaded pin that opens up with more pressure = higher rate).

i.e. even 5 PSI difference can mean your rate is changing a fair bit (especially at lower rates). From my understanding, it is a little less finicky at higher rates, but not sure how they work at the 10-20GPA.

A few years back I ran vari target tips. They worked good achieved the rates your are looking for

ok guys. well i spoke with the greenleaf boys. i decided to get a set of their variable nozzles. they are more economical than the vari target. i'll let everyone know how it turns out.
Did they happen to say how consistent they are from one nozzle to the next. If I had a set of these I would definitely be comparing rates between nozzles. An auto rate controller can hide a lot of issues and let you think all is well.

Greenleaf "claimed" their nozzles were more "even" than the competition. They test every nozzle in house before it clears their quality program. I agree that things can get real messed up if these things fail. If they work when new, I'll just have to perform some tests on occasion to make sure tolerances are acceptable. Fingers crossed.
