Grossly overpriced parts

Well I thought I'd seen it all...until now! The meter baffle plate from a flexi coil seed tank. $1400+! Couldn't believe it! For what should be a $200 part. A whole brand new stainless steel meter box is only $3700. Unreal.

Bought a throttle position sensor for my tender truck today. Replaced it last year with one from Amazon for 38$. Should have bought a couple of spare ones. International dealer helped his self to 1017$ with taxes. Having a hard time sitting now since I’ve been violated.

I agree the prices are mind-boggling. Especially for simple parts. By the way those stainless meter units are a very good investment. The ones I bought were from Agri-stainless and have things about them that are far superior to the flexi-coil oem ones. Such as eliminating that silly replaceable plastic wear plate (which is another ridiculously priced part) with a nice thick piece of hardf plastic that will last years. And nice big snap clasps.

As for the throttle position sensor, though, how long would the $1000 sensor last compared to the Amazon one that barely lasted a year? I've bought lots of cheap parts over the years, only to have to replace them over and over again, often getting close to the high price I thought I was avoiding.

I assume that’s not one thousand and seventeen dollars?!

There is a “Brandt tax” on the order of 50% on some Deere parts.
you can buy stainless steel meterbox wear plates for about the same price as those crappy aluminum/plastic strip ones right from the case/new holland dealer. they are just a solid piece of stainless flatbar, no plastic strip that always wrecks

Many parts at dealerships, regardless of color, are marked up 100%.

Identical part, same day, two different dealership groups.

Yes, we have just used a piece of 1/4" SS flat bar from our local welding shop to replace the the plastic wear strip and aluminum backer. Way cheaper and will last as long as you want to use the cart.
I replaced the wear stripe with stainless a few years ago. I think it cost me $70 to replace all three. When I went to the welding shop, they were making them for the local dealer to sell at 200 a piece.
We used strips of hardwood that also worked quite well. They do swell a bit under the fertilizer meter with moisture in the fertilizer.
Been buying parts out of the us and a for a hell of alot cheaper. Front idler wheels for a 9520T ( even after exchange rate and shipping where basically buy 2.5 get 1.5 free) and were poly coated not rubber...
Radiator at radiator shop in edmonton was less than half what deere wanted... same part number and everything. Ridiculous.

No. 1017$ and thanks for reminding me again. Really appreciate it Lol.

Holly ****!!!

I suspect you hadn’t forgot about it.
A 2676% mark up over Amazon!
There are no boundaries as to mark up these days. Our local Coop tried to sell me a 1" fuel tank valve for my gravity feed fuel tank. $135 they wanted. I went to the shelf with brass valves $16.99. Guess which one I bought.
I needed (or thought I needed) a speed sensor for the middle meter on our JD 1910 ground drive cart. It has four of these sensors. One for the main drive and one for each of the three meters.
They have three wires going to each of them so are harder to find than your average magnetic rpm sensor. Local JD wanted $580 each. Another one an hour further wanted $450. So a $130 difference. And I found an aftermarket supplier down in the US for $175 American.
When I initially phoned, I thought, finally a part that shouldn’t have increased in price. It was $180 three years ago when I bought my last one. Wow was I wrong. Pretty sure production cost of it would be well under $20. Likely less. Guess I have to figure out how to manufacture them. 🤣

never mind the over priced part, they never seem to have what a guy needs, i just cant figure how flexi coil built right here in Canada and I can never get parts, sensors back ordered since for ever, the fan motor quit i could get one of them for a extremely over priced amount, was in a hurry didn't bother to price check, only to try to get the hub and pulley off ( flexi coil 4350 dual fan motor) and the hub broke and no one in Canada has one, thankfully my old drill was still here to keep me going the long weekend

any one parting a dual fan flexi coil cart out would like to finish seeding with my newer drill
A seal kit for a tiny 16" cylinder on my P2050 commanded $350. I can buy an entire cylinder at princess Auto far cheaper than that. Only the piston needed new seals really. I went down to my local hydraulic experts and he had the exact piston seals I needed on the shelf for $20 a pop. I am really fearing the day when these guys retire.

How about skinny orings for the meter cartridges on the newer Case/NH/Flexicoil seedcarts at $13 each old price if you can even find any. Times that by 32 cartridges each having times 2 orings. After the second season about half of them broke removing the cartridges and the other half look weathered and cracked even though the cartridges have been thoroughly cleaned and stored in a dry place. Even some of the extra meters I have not used have cracked orings and break if you try to remove them. After a bit of searching dealers inventory I finally found enough and had hoped the 2 year warrantee would cover them but I just got an invoice in the mail for them.
