There are a few grain buyer surveys doing the rounds at the moment, asking farmers what crops they are growing and acreages, and rather patronizingly offering "be in to win the draw" type incentives for anyone who obliges.
Please do yourself and other farmers a large favour by NOT obliging.
This information simply gives buyers more power to manipulate prices and will cost you money at harvest time.

The USDA called me last fall after harvest, asked me how much I farm and yeilds and all that crap

Here is what I fed them and they have never called back

I told them I farm 5x how much I really do and told them I had only got 10 acres of barley in and was not able to harvest due to adverse conditions.

Suckers!

Glad to see somebody is doing their bit for the cause!:54:
So you are giving out bogus information with the express purpose of misleading the recipient into making bad marketing decisions, that are financially favourable to your own vested interests... seems fair... I mean, heck, that is what the USDA does!

The USDA is the last F****** outfit I`d give information to.
Their unhealthy and morally corrupt, revolving door system of representative administration by directors from private sector corporates like ADM, Monsanto and Dow should ring a few alarm bells for a start.

Surveys are my pet hate , Around July every year the statistics wankers send out their survey wanting to know every friggin detail known to man to man kind.

Its not compulsory to fill it out, but they will take you to court if you don't. I held off a few years ago and by Christmas time they were threatening me with fines etc.

They ask a heap of questions on water usage including one where I am supposed to know how much water my sheep and cattle drink . a couple of years ago I wrote a detailed letter explaining if the grass is wet each morning they don't drink any water and also explaining a heap of other variants that make it an impossible question to answer.

Anyway last year the same stupid question was in it again so I put down "0 liters "and wrote next to it , "they seen what the fish were doing in it and now they wont touch the stuff".

As for crop areas and yields random numbers do just fine and I try to make they whole survey read like I am doing it real tough.
Nosie government wankers just want all the info so they can draw up some pretty graphs and if it looks like farmers are doing ok they can knife us in the back.:sFun_DeadHorse:

we were talking about putting in an invoice charging them for our time, last time!
Do it! $500/hr for fill in time, minimum charge of 50hrs, plus %100 GST - no not that "normal" GST - this type of GST stands for: "Grief & Stress Tax".
If we want "information" it costs us plenty, so it's fair & reasonable that if someone wants OUR information, it's going to cost them plenty ..... plus some!
