Do your homework on whoever offers you a job. Im sure there are plenty of harvesters in here who are great people to work for, but I on the other hand did not. I sure didnt appreciate getting stiffed on wages and or treated worse than the dirt we all walk on.

Paying for all the green machinery leaves little for wages... On a serious note, ya that sucks when you give it your best, and some guys just art worth the headaches to work for

Had a guy give me a hand a few years back, we were on canola and ran ridiculously long hrs, five days non stop, on the last day he could not handle it and quit, I felt for him and he did a great job, just more than he could deal with, but I also gave him a nice bonus after... We still talk to this day
We ran every day, 12-15 hours a day. And the old man did nothing but scream and cuss at everyone and even tried to get physical with me one night, he even threw a set of keys at my head in the close quarters of a pick up truck. Definitely ruined the experience and wasnt worth the money flying out there and then having to find a ride home after i quit. They dumped me off at a truck stop.

I would definitely not reccomend working for them or even doing business with them. Such an awful and disrespectful outfit.
Obviously theres two sides to every story but You have acted very decently in your post here Alex. Do you want to come to Australia for a harvest run?
You can Private message me if you want info.
Your right phantom 970, we are just hearing 1 side of it and you can bet there is another side we did not hear. Why would a boss get so mad he would throw a set of keys ? I know that there are many so called hands that are not worth their own salt and can tear up a anvil with a rubber hammer too. Sounds like the man didnt have much of a crew if he had to scream and cuss all the time at his crew ? He may of been going through a divorce or something like that ? I know alot of the hands these days have no clue about making a hand a real hand. Although some **** sure know how to work and be productive. I know several custom operators around the country and they are top notch outfits and will go out of their way to treat the hands good, I also have seen some of these hands whine and take advantage of their boss too. GOD bless those who help feed so many..............

This guy just had a terrible temper honestly, i understand things get stressful but theres no reason yo take it out on your crew when theyre doing everything possible to help and try and get through the day. I nevet broke anything and treated the equipment as if it were my own. I always kept it clean and always kept up on my scheduled maintenance. And when i thought i seen something that wasnt right i would say something to the boss man and get screamed at by the old man when he thought he just thought id run **** into the ground like he has had people do before.

They both even told me that the hardest aspect of running their business was fnding people to work for them. Well i guess its pretty clear when you have the temper of a ticking time bomb.
Harvest crews need workers, they are not going to treat GOOD workers as you have explained. Why would they? They need operators for the machines. POOR operators on the other hand yes the owners have been known to loose their cool because they are getting sick of running day cares, and listening to people ***** about everything under the sun.

This doesn't only apply to agriculture, I know of several oil service companies that have sold their businesses because they are sick and tired of the quality of workers out there today." Pay me more but don't expect me to do more attitude, then pay me more, train me while I wreck your equipment then when you don't meet every demand I have I will quit and leave you with no notice."

I am sorry for the rant but I just wish some of these employees would put their phones down, pay attention to what their boss is teaching them, grow a pair and not want to quit every time they can't get their way.

Yeah i get that, i told them before i set foot in the combine im not here to be careless and run your equipment in the ground, i dont know everything, especially about agriculture and harvesting. I always listened and asked questions and took care of things. Im not bashing them for anything other than unfair treatment. I didnt complain about what i was being paid or how long of hours we worked everyday. I enjoyed the work and would do it ovet again with a different outfit.

But I am saying that ive worked alot of crappy jobs in my day and ive never worked for such a poor managed and such explosive and violent individuals. I was there to help and get fields cut, not to be somebodys Ni**er. I always show people the upmost respect and i expect the same on return. Yell and scream all you want about your combine not getting fuel, or your feederhouse chains breaking. Yeah it suxks. But were part of a team and were here to fix it and get back to cuttin. Not to listen to you scream and cry and everyone for an occurence that nobody had anything to do with.

Espcially not try and get physical about.

Who was the company so people can have a heads up. I understand that some people can't do the job but screaming and yelling doesn't solve any thing. If some one screamed and yelled at me or threw somthing at me it would be the last time. He would be picking himself up off the ground. When you treat someone like that the boss employee relationship goes ot the window. Some people think they can treat people like **** and get away with it.The guy hired him so its his responibility to at least give him his pay and get him to the bus station. This doesn't just happen in a day you can see someone isn't working out long befor you dump him off at a truck stop. He is not going to get anyone to stay i'm a good operrater and if I was on the crew I would not put up with him yelling at someone like that. Him and I would of had words if saw hi treating someone like that.

Grow up tough boy, lots of bus stops are at truck stops . If you were to take a poke at me tough boy , I promise that you would never do it again to anybody .
I wasnt acking tough at all. If you treat your help like that I wouldn't be to scard as you are compasating for somthing else. If it was a bus stop I think he would of said it. What are you so defensive about are you who he was working for. His post must just hit home with you.
I am cutting in eastern Montana and could use a good operator right away had a guy get home sick and I need to fill his seat. You can pm me. And we dont yell and scream EVER

How old are you little feller ? I am not defensive over anything , the deal is that we never heard the other side of the story . Well he is lucky they dropped him off at a truckstop , some would not even do that . What does hit home with me is the worthless little sob's that talk trash behind a mans back when they wont tell the whole story , sort of like the littlemen who think they would hit their boss if they were yelled at . I wonder what they done to be yelled at ? Run into the side of a truck, done major damage to a piece of equipment ?It is funny how some of the younger guys think they are smarter than the boss, the man who is writing his checks. I bet your the type you would walk off the job without saying anything and have mom come get you .
Everyone is tough on the other side of the keyboard.

Only heard one side of the story, correct. However, the OP has been extremely tactful in his posts and has handled himself well.

Now lets quit throwing virtual punches and act like big boys now.

Christ, I got 5 kids that squabble less than this.

There's an equal amount of bosses that will not listen to their employees as well and feel they know everything. Neither person knows the most about everything. Employees are on the front lines running the equipment, if they have an idea of how to make things better in the field, listen to it, get as much info as you can from them about it and then think about it. Discuss it later with them to answer your other questions about their idea and then if you decide to not use their idea, explain why so they understand and can learn from it. A boss who feels they are the boss and they are right is not only going to have lower quality workers, but will fall behind and not be as successful as the one who does.

That said, its a two way street and an employee who doesn't listen to his boss will likely find themselves looking for work for one of two reasons, they get sick of the boss or the boss gets sick of them.

Exactly my point jdfame, i sent you the name of thst company. And ian im in illinois close to MO.
I am too **** timid with big equipment to ever get remotely close to ever damage equipment, trucks or anything. Theyre all too expensive to be reckless with and not pay attention to what youre doing. Rework and unneccesary repair is expensive.
Looking for full time employment in Alberta Canada. Farm large acres with new equipment and offer competitive wages. if interested please call Steve @ 7808350739. Also seeking part time employment for the harvest season. Two or Three months starting as soon as possible.
The name of the company was BLACK FALCON ENTERPRISES. Still missing three days pay.
